Wednesday June 17 from 11-2pm Our Novels and Needles book club is a once-a-quarter get together to spend time chatting about some of our favorite things: reading and sewing! We will also spend time at each meeting doing a bit of sewing: projects will always be beginner friendly and always for fun. The book for our June Meeting will be Forget Me Knot by Mary Marks. “Welcome to San Fernando Valley, California, where Martha Rose and her coterie of quilters are enjoying life on the good side of retirement–until murder pulls a stitch out of their plans. . .” A cheerful reminder to support your local bookshop, who often will order titles for you upon request, just as you support your local quilt shop. A note to our friends, the book’s narrator occasionally uses negative language to discuss her body weight that we do not agree with. Book club project will be announced here and by email at the end of May. Our intention with our Novels and Needles Book Club is to choose books with a sewing/fiber art theme across various genres, because we love all sorts of reading! Then, we will get together every 3 months to discuss while also enjoying a small hand sewing related project inspired by the book we read. Meetings will be held in March, June, September and December. We also may share supplementary reading suggestions or other media (say, mini-documentaries or relevant articles) to dive deeper into each book’s subject matter. We are excited to get feedback from our community about this event and would love to hear any book recommendations!
